Experience 'A Spectacle By The Sea' at the Rockport Opera House, featuring Rory McBride and his band. A recently-minted Maine resident who frequently circuits New York, Paris, and Tokyo, Rory has earned local and coastal acclaim as the "Sonic Rocker by The Sea.' For the past two summers, he has entertained audiences on boats and at private events along US Highway One.

This show will feature a selection of songs from his 'Sonic Holiday' repertoire, along with other favorites from his extensive music catalog.

RORY MCBRIDE
(SINGER)

American singer and poet Rory McBride creates soft psychedelic folk rock characterized by blues and spiritual music. During the pandemic, he left urban life behind and turned to nature, spending time reading and writing poetry and laying the groundwork for his eponymous debut LP. Much time was spent off the grid in southwest Wisconsin and in the backwoods of various Amish farms. Rory's initial output was naturally uncomplicated and hypnotic, evoking the work of Jim Morrison and John Lennon with a tightness of lyrical images and stylistic maneuvering that called to mind early Bob Dylan.

STU MAHAN
(BASS GUITARIST)

Hailing from Pemaquid, Maine, Stu Mahan, the bass player for Rory McBride, seeks higher consciousness through the resonance of lower frequencies. His musical approach is a thread in the collective quilt, weaving carefully knit bass lines to infuse warmth and positivity into the atmosphere. Stu has graced some of the world's greatest stages and rooms, collaborating with renowned artists. His presence, alongside Rory McBride, is a welcoming force that enhances the musical experience in every situation encountered.

(DRUMMER)

Drummer Ryan Curless, part of Rory McBride's musical ensemble, embodies a legacy rooted in his DNA as the grandson of legendary country singer Dick Curless. Defying genre expectations, Ryan's rhythmic prowess spans funk, punk, folk, and rock. On stage and in the studio, he's collaborated with diverse talents such as rap sensation Spose, Grammy-winning songwriter Dave Gutter, and the folk-rock allure of The Wolff Sisters. Ryan Curless crafts a sonic landscape where genres collide and rhythms unite, pushing the boundaries of musical exploration as the drummer for Rory McBride.
